Day 13 Sugar Detox Report - Calm, Consistent, and Predictable

On the Day 13 of Sugar Detox, I felt calm and almost quiet in the best way. No major swings, no big challenges. If you’re following along on your own detox, this is often the point where your body starts trusting the new routine. Energy rises, cravings fade, and your day feels more predictable. I am hoping this becomes the new normal.

I woke up with some night sweats around midnight, but those can happen for many reasons, so I am simply noting the experience.

Day 13 Sugar Detox - Morning Check-In

  • Weight: 194.2 lbs

  • Fasting Glucose (CGM): 112 mg/dL

  • Sleep Readiness (Oura): 88

  • Sleep Quality (Oura): 76

  • Energy Level: 8 — woke up ready to go

  • Mood: Alert and motivated

  • Breakfast: 3 eggs over easy with cheese, 2 sausage patties

Woke up clear-headed and ready, even though the weather was cool and overcast. Energy felt stable early in the day.

Day13 Sugar Detox - Afternoon Check-In

  • Glucose (CGM): 107 mg/dL

  • Meal: Large spinach salad with chicken tenders, avocado, peppers, goat cheese, mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pomegranate seeds), pumpkin seeds, red onion, avocado oil + balsamic dressing

  • Snacks: None

Still energetic, still motivated. No desire to snack. A big shift from the first week.

Day 13 Sugar Detox - Evening Check-In

  • Glucose (CGM): 81 mg/dL

  • Meal: Eggplant lasagna

  • Snack: 4 pieces of 72% cacao chocolate with cashew butter

The eggplant lasagna didn’t move my glucose at all. The chocolate created a small spike, as expected, but nothing dramatic.

Day 13 Sugar Detox - Daily Recap

  • Glucose Range: <70–113 mg/dL

  • Activity: 2,426 calories

  • Water: 140 oz

  • Overall Energy: 6 — steady but tired

  • Overall Mood: Cautious but excited

  • Overall Cravings: Mild evening cravings (mostly habit-based)

Why Day 13 Feels Calm (And Why That Matters)

I ran 5 miles today as part of half-marathon training, and afterward my glucose dropped into the mid-80s and held steady for hours revealing a great sign that my body is efficiently using both glycogen and fat for fuel.

Overnight my glucose had a few small spikes but mostly floated around 100 mg/dL before settling again. I am also noticing more sleep interruptions lately waking up around 2 AM feeling ready to start the day.  I lay there for an hour or so before falling back to sleep.

Here’s why this can happen near the end of a sugar detox:

  • Hormones are still recalibrating.  Cortisol, insulin, and adrenaline all shift as sugar intake stays low.

  • The nervous system adjusts after days of more stable glucose.

  • The liver is working overnight, especially when glycogen stores are lower and your body relies more on fat metabolism.

This is all normal. Everyone progresses differently, but what you’re seeing is your system finding a new balance.

You are not just surviving without sugar anymore, you are adapting to it.
